A thin crescent of sunlight remains visible just before the Moon completely covers the Sun. The brilliant photosphere appears as a narrow arc along the lunar limb, while reddish solar prominences can be seen around the edge.
Photographed in A Coruña, Galicia, Spain, shortly before totality during the August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse.
