Elephant Trunk Nebula, 2400ly away in Cephus

IC1396 consists of the entire region in this pic. IC1396A is just the Elephant Trunk (can you find it, look for the red thing that looks like a club or the end of an elephant trunk). This nebula is rather larger in the sky (thus setting my scope up with a 384mm focal length).

I took a picture of this same nebula a month ago with my OSC (one shot color) camera. Using mono has improved the result and when using mono it is relatively easy to do the first part of making an SHO (Hubble Pallet) image. I have a great deal left to learn about Hubble Pallet and I am learning.

ASI2600MM Pro g100, AskarV@384f4.8, Ha 18 10min pics (37 hours exposure), O3 19 10min pics (3.2 hours exposure), S2 31 10min pics (5.2 hours exposure), RGB images were used to compose the stars, +darks/biases/flats taken over multiple nights 7/19/26-7/22/26.

To process the stars I combined RGB images. For this image I combined the Ha, O3 & S2 into Hubble Pallet (SHO). This is only my 3rd SHO image. I managed to make a lot of detail come out. The colors are a real curiosity to me. They look different than other images I have seen. I still have a lot to learn about applying the Hubble Pallet to pics. And, this was fun to do.
