An Island in the Sun

At dawn on June 18, the sun rose behind the island of Filicudi, Sicily, part of the Aeolian archipelago. The scene was evocative because, due to the mirage it created, the island seemed to be embedded in the sun. I photographed from the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Palermo.
