Mapping stars

On 01/23/2026 07:06 pm by Susan Jensen | Odessa, WA

Too many cloudy foggy days had me anxious to get out photograph the night sky. So at the first sign of clear skies I checked Stellarium to get real time info on the winter Milky Way and found it sitting between Orion and Gemini, with brilliant Jupiter front and center. Knowing that the 27% moon could possibly prevent getting much detail I headed out anyway. Lights of Spokane glow along the horizon to the left. And I'm always happy when I capture that denizen of the night sky - "airglow'. It was 22° - a true winter moonlit night.
