Crescent Moon with Earthshine

Single snapshot taken with an iPhone SE; f1.8; 1/30 sec; through an Orion 8-inch reflector telescope, on the corner of 2nd Avenue & East 3rd Street in Manhattan. The four-day old crescent Moon was crossing from Capricorn into Aquarius.

As many others have learned, if you expose the earthshine correctly, the lit portion of the Moon is over-exposed, and if you darken the lit portion the earthshine disappears. I posted two photos on my flickr page, to show this.
