Monumental Moment At the Monument
On 02/25/2025 05:56 pm by Jelieta Walinski Ph.D | Website | Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona, USA
Catching the cosmic moment! I set up my tripod at Chiricahua National Monument, ready to capture the planet's beauty. I chose this spot for its unique rock formations, a testament to the monument's rich geological history.
For the Native American tribes, this land is sacred, holding spiritual significance and ancestral ties. The monument's stunning rock formations, known as 'standing up rocks,' are a result of millions of years of erosion, creating an otherworldly landscape.
Chiricahua National Monument was designated to protect its natural and cultural resources. The area's unique ecosystem and biodiversity, as well as its rich cultural heritage, make it a treasure worth preserving.
In this photo, I climbed atop a massive rock to emphasize my presence within this breathtaking landscape. With the sun setting at the horizon, sunrays poke through side of my legs, casting an ethereal glow. I used a trigger release to capture this moment, as I stood there, taking in the majesty of this natural wonder.
Let's cherish and protect our national treasures, like Chiricahua National Monument, for future generations to enjoy!
