Round Waves and Milky Way

On 07/03/2024 09:24 pm by Meiying Lee| Yilan, Taiwan

Somewhere on the coast of northeastern Taiwan, there are two rocks very close to each other on a beach. When distant parallel waves pass through the gap between two rocks, they will form round waves due to the diffraction effect and reach the beach. It's not easy to wait for such a phenomenon, as there must be the right tides to create the pronounced round waves. In addition to the round waves on the beach, this photo also has the Milky Way in the sky, forming a very rare and special scene. Due to light pollution from fishing boats, the Milky Way in the sky was originally dim. But after using the software "Sequator156" to remove light pollution, the Milky Way becomes very obvious. The small island seen from the gap between the two rocks is Taiwan's famous volcanic island-Guishan Island. Its appearance looks like a turtle.
