Otter Rock is in a very low light pollution area, and on July 4th the skies were immaculately clear. There were 20mph gusts and the moon was set to rise, gibbous and bright, around midnight, but I slipped into the short hour between astronomical dark and the moon rising with a windbreaker and a firm grip on my tripod to take a few photos. This is the arch of the Milky Way facing east over the Inn at Otter Crest. If you look closely, you can see a faint cluster of not-quite parallel lines crossing the galaxy. Those are satellite trails from a Starlink satellite train that happened to pass overhead while I was shooting the 45-second exposure.
