While toggling between images I had taken of the sun from February and June I noticed a size difference in the sun between the two images. I figured this was due to the closer proximity of the sun in winter but had not expected the difference to be easily seen in photos. Stellarium confirmed the angular size on 2/20 to be 32.35’ vs. 31.48 on June 18. To demonstrate this difference I masked the smaller June image in Lightroom and overlayed it onto the one taken in February. The ring represents the difference in apparent solar size between winter and summer.

Olympus EM-1 mark 3, 300mm f4 lens with a 2.0 teleconverter, a Thousand Oaks solar filter and a tripod.

An image of the sun from February 20, 2023 (left image) was compared to one taken on June 18, 2023 (right image). A silhouette was created from the smaller June image in Lightroom which was overlayed onto the larger February image to show the apparent size difference (center image) between the winter and summer sun.
