This photo is a composite of multiple exposures of the Sun taken today (the summer solstice, when the sun is at its highest in the norther hemisphere sky) at six-minute intervals, along with a similar set of exposures taken last December near the winter solstice when the Sun is at its lowest. (The camera was mounted in the same position for all shots.)
Today in Berrien Springs the Sun's altitude was 71.5 degrees at solar noon. Last December its altitude barely reached 23 degrees.
Nikon D800 camera, Nikon 16 mm f/2.8 fisheye lens, solar filter mounted at back of lens.
