This active area of the Sun contains 3 sunspot groups. Sunspots AR2954 and AR2955 are near the NE limb - these are the sunspots thought to be responsible for the massive farside solar flare and coronal mass ejection that occurred this past the weekend. The small sunspot near the right edge of the image is AR2953.
