I had been reading and hearing about the comet for a few weeks, but had all kinds of things getting in the way of seeing it. On the day NEOWISE made its closest pass to earth the skies cleared and I headed out into the farm country to see if I could find it. My wife and I looked around the area of the sky where it was rumored to be located, and I started snapping a few shots in the general direction of where I thought it was. Suddenly, I looked at one of the images and saw the characteristic green dot with a cloudy tail. "I got it!" I shouted and then adjusted the positioning of the camera and lens and eventually got this shot.
Canon EOS 5D Mk IV, EF 400 mm f/2.8 L, 5 sec at f/2.8
Straight out of camera. I tried, but I couldn't make it any better...
