Extraordinary Sunset Twilight Display
On Friday 20th a hazy sunset with traces of thin high cloud overhead produced an extraordinary ten minute display of bright magenta above a twilight arch thirteen minutes after the Sun had disappeared below the horizon. This was due to setting sunlight being reflected from stratospheric aerosols and the layer of thin high cloud which had almost completely disappeared by the time the display ended.
