The "Dark River" flows along the Galactic Equator. Between Aquila to the North and Sagittarius to the South lies a non-descript little constellation called Scutum (the shield). Here resides the Scutum Star Cloud and a high concentration of Dark Nebula (interstellar dust). This is one of the most fascinating areas of sky you could explore with a pair of binoculars. The Scutum star cloud and the Sagittarius Molecular cloud are the brightest and most prominent features you will see in any panoramic MilkyWay image. I like to get up-close and personal with them!
I hate to blemish photos with labels so I am submitting another photo highlighting all the cool objects that are a must-see thru binoculars or a small scope.
