This was taken after first noticing what looked like a small rainbow (bottom of picture) as I was traveling Northwest. I was the passenger and looked out of the window and saw part of the circle. We pulled into a turnout and I got out of the vehicle and took several shots of a huge circle around the sun. It was filtered sunlight. I couldn’t see what I was shooting because of the phone’s faceplate reflecting back at me. I just aimed and shot. It was only after I viewed the pictures that I was surprised at what was caught. I think the curving line across the sun punctuated by the two outer circular bright spots were a result of the camera. Still, it is impressive. Thanks for allowing me to share it. I love Earthsky!
