A Second Chance at Jupiter: EXPOTheoPrac in Action

Exposure. Theory. Practice.

On February 1, 2026, I captured four short videos of Jupiter. Although the recordings were brief, I preserved them because I saw value in what I had captured. Months later, after learning to use WinJUPOS, I returned to those videos and processed them again using AutoStakkert!, RegiStax, WinJUPOS, and Photoshop.

This experience reflects **EXPOTheoPrac—Exposure, Theory, and Practice**, an educational theory I developed and defended during my doctoral studies.

Through exposure, learners encounter an experience and discover what is possible. Through theory, they gain the knowledge needed to understand what they observe. Through practice, they apply that knowledge, repeat the process, and strengthen their skills.

My return to these four videos illustrates how learning can transform our understanding of existing work. The original recordings had not changed, but my knowledge and processing skills had grown. By applying what I learned, I was able to explore new details in Jupiter's atmosphere and examine a dark feature consistent with a moon's shadow.

This experience reminds me that meaningful learning does not always require starting from scratch. Sometimes, we need to revisit what we have already done with better understanding, patience, and new skills.

**Four little videos. One giant planet. A new skill. And another discovery.**

Through EXPOTheoPrac, my journey in astrophotography becomes a reminder that exposure opens the door to learning, theory gives us understanding, and practice helps us turn knowledge into experience.
