Morning Magic at West Creek Reservation
On 10/23/2026 09:45 am by Nicole Chaps | Parma, Ohio, USA
A crisp morning trip to West Creek Reservation in Parma, Ohio rewarded me with one of my favorite sights: beautiful autumn color meeting spectacular atmospheric light.
As the morning sun climbed behind the tree line, its light scattered through the rising woods mist, creating brilliant, distinct crepuscular rays (sunbeams). These beautiful streams of light are an example of the Tyndall effect, where sunlight becomes visible as it reflects off tiny particles of moisture suspended in the forest air. There is truly nothing quite like autumn in Northeast Ohio when the woods turn to gold and the morning light breaks through the canopy like this.

Extremely minimal adjustments in Adobe Lightroom for exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows and white balance. Pardon the wildlife management fence in the picture, but I did not want to use AI tools to remove it!
