We can see 3D in a 2D photo

On 02/20/2026 09:00 pm by Thomas Tan | Melbourne, Australia

Can we see circles in the sky? Can we show the circles?

I have two photos two hours apart of Jupiter's moons from the side.
(A long zoom will do too).

The moons were: Ganymede, Europa on my left and Io on my right.
After two hours, G and E had clearly moved "out" and Io also, as if they were heading in opposite directions?

But the moons are supposed to be orbiting in the same direction?

Ans.:
G and E were going clockwise to the back of Jupiter. Io was going clockwise to the front of Jupiter.

So, > two frames in one night can show three circles <

Note: your moons from the Northern Hemisphere will be going counter-clockwise
