𝘼 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧
The beauty of celestial events is often beyond the reach of words. Yesterday, 14 September 2026, I experienced that feeling once again.
I had never witnessed an occultation with my own eyes before. At first, I was quite sceptical—how could I possibly see Venus disappearing behind the Moon before sunset?
But my experienced friends from Astronomads Bangla kept reassuring me and encouraging me: “You will see it.”
And indeed, I did.
There was a thin veil of cloud across the sky. While taking a few test shots, I suddenly caught sight of Venus beside the Moon. And within moments, I watched as Venus, the second planet from the Sun, slowly disappeared behind the Moon.
A little while later came the moment I had been waiting for.
When Venus finally burst into view from behind the Moon, shining against the dark sky, I felt that my eyes had truly been blessed.
That diamond-like brilliance, and the warm, raw-golden hue of Venus—perhaps no camera can ever capture them in their entirety. A camera can only preserve a small testimony of what the human eye witnessed.
So, as a record of time, experience, and a rare celestial event, I leave these photographs here.
The first photograph is one of my test shots, taken at 200 mm.
The second photograph was taken at 500 mm, capturing Venus after its reappearance from behind the Moon.
