Venus (top), Virgo star Spica (lower down), Young September Moon and Mercury setting above Murahwa Mountain at 6.26 pm

In the evening on 12th September, the two-day old 2.5% illuminated Waxing Crescent Moon became clearly visible at about 6.0 pm in slightly smoke-hazed sunset illuminated twilight sky above Murahwa Mountain to the West of Mutare. It was then observed developing Earthshine and descending towards the Chikanga West horizon beneath brilliant Venus and the bright Libra star Spica before setting into dense smoke-haze behind the southern slope of Buffalo Peak (the main foothill of Murahwa Mountain). The planet Mercury also became very faintly visible close to the Due West Equinox Sunset Point on the summit of Murahwa Mountain in the accompanying security light illuminated distant view taken at 6.26 pm.
