1.5% Waning Crescent Moon
On 09/10/2026 05:34 am by Tameem Altameemi | Website | Dubai, United Arab Emirates
A very thin waning crescent moon, photographed near the end of the Islamic month of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH. At the time of the observation, only about 1.5% of the lunar disk was illuminated by sunlight.
The slender crescent marks one of the final stages of the lunar cycle before new moon. Observing such a thin waning crescent can be challenging because it appears low in the sky and close to the sun shortly before sunrise.
