The moon cradling Venus

The moon cradling two Venus crescents

At first I only want to show Venus also has a crescent like the moon. Later I realized what makes Venus special is its change in shape & size, is because it goes around the sun inside the earth's orbit.

This is my "science in motion" photo showing: Beside the moon, Venus has a crescent too but unlike the moon, Venus grows in size, wider and thinner and gets dimmer.

Three shots formed the composite photo:
an old lunar crescent photo shot with a shorter lens
a Venus crescent shot on 31st August
another Venus crescent (the lower one) shot on 9th September

I only moved, zoomed in and cropped the image. I did not edit anything.
The Venus crescents were all shot with the same shutter speed, 1/2000 second, ISO 100 though they all looked different because of the dirty air and I had fiddled with the focusing.

Moon shot: 200mm lens on full frame camera
Venus shots: 360mm telescope on 1.5x APS-C camera
tripod, remote shutter release
exposure bracketing
