For a while, I watched a great egret (Ardea alba) standing motionless, waiting for prey, and occasionally took photos of it using "bird-watching mode". One of these series of shots successfully captured a lightning-fast strike at its prey. However, the hunt was unsuccessful — lucky prey, unlucky hunter.
