A Bright Northern Cap on the Top of the Moon at Maximum Eclipse
On 08/28/2026 01:13 am by Helio C. Vital | Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The photo shows the Moon at maximum eclipse (96.4% obscuration). In spite of being relatively small, the Northern penumbral cap was roughly a magnitude brighter than the rest of the reddish lunar disk, which remained inside the much darker umbral region of Earth`s umbral shadow.
