Revealing the uncommon near one of the most common

On 05/14/2026 by Ogetay Kayali | Website | Starfront Observatories, TX, USA

Common objects sometimes hide the uncommon just besides them. Although Lagoon and Trifid are one of the most commonly images objects, one might think that imaging Chinese Dragon near them would reveal the unseen. However, this dense and rich field covers even more. What most of the telescopes miss here is captured by long focal length scope, Sh2-34 a rarely imaged, faint but big emission target. Under the dark skies, it is possible to see it even in the broadband image here, but once the narrowband is overlaid, it becomes much more clear. This field has more than what it seems to have.
