Some call it summer; I call it fire season. The colors, especially near sunrise or sunset, are an eerie shade of orange. Smoke particles in the atmosphere scatter shorter blue wavelengths, making oranges and reds more visible. Following days of temperatures in the 90's, I set the sprinkler and used it as a backdrop for photographing purple coneflower.
