A Golden Minute
On 07/20/2026 08:05 pm by Ross Stone | White Mountains, Bishop, CA, USA
It was a dull, dreary and overcast afternoon high up in the White mountains in California. I accepted that the prime colors of sunset were gone. I packed up my gear and was about to hike back down the hill, but a glimmer of orange in the west caught my eye. To my amazement, there was a small patch of sky that had cleared just enough to let some of that beautiful, warm, summer light through. The ancient Bristlecone pine tree exploded with golden illumination. The cool rain clouds stand in wonderful contrast with the golden summer light.
