Musk Thistle
On 06/16/2026 07:46 pm by Asha Prasad | Minnesota, USA
A fully bloomed Musk Thistle in a field of Thistles, in a larger Prairie Reserve. The best part of a prairie hike is to observe these wild invasive flowering plants thriving in their natural habitat, attracting bees and butterflies.
Thistles are members of the Asteraceae family. They may as well be called "Porcupines of the Plant Kingdom". There is no glove thick enough to handle them in the garden. However, their roots dig deep and bring out nutrients to the surface, and their vibrant pink flowers attract friendly pollinators.
