Aphid mummy
On 06/24/2026 12:17 pm by Judith Gaffney | Website | Birmingham, UK
An aphid ‘mummy.’ A parasitic wasp has developed inside the aphid after, in its larval form, consuming the aphid from the inside. A tiny fully adult wasp will soon exit through a small hole in the exoskeleton.
As beautiful as our world is, it is also quite hideous and profoundly sad. A truly wonderous place.
