Young Moon ascends Alignment of Planets 16-18th June.
On 06/18/2026 05:50 pm by Peter Lowenstein | Website | Mutare, Zimbabwe
Between 16th and 18th June, the Young Moon could be observed in three stages of ascent of a rare alignment of the planets Venus, Jupiter and Mercury. On the first day it was below Mercury, on the second it was between Venus and Jupiter and on the third had risen above Venus. This has been captured in high resolution still images taken between 5.46 and 5.50 pm on three consecutive days which have been used to produce the accompanying looped slideshow and montage. The displays took place in receding volcanic sunset twilight above Transmitter Hill to the W.N.W of Mutare. Owing to the wide field of view and range of brightness of the volcanic sunset the visibility of the planets has been slightly enhanced by minimal application of ‘Star Spikes’ Pro filter.
