Half-an-hour after the sun disappeared below the horizon on Tuesday 16th June the Young 3.5% illuminated Waxing Crescent Moon first became visible in the sunset sky above the summit of Transmitter Hill to the W.N.W of Mutare at 5.28 pm. As the light faded over the next twenty minutes a rare alignment of the three planets Venus (top), Jupiter and Mercury appeared above the Moon in the glow of a retreating volcanic sunset twilight arch and descended towards the summit of Transmitter Hill.

Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset and manual exposure modes.

Compilation of composite of two images taken at 5.50 and 5.56 pm.
