Young Muharram Crescent Above Dubai Skyline
On 06/15/2026 07:36 pm by Tameem Altameemi | Website | Dubai, United Arab Emirates
My image of the young crescent Moon marking the beginning of Muharram 1448 AH, photographed from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
At the time of observation, the Moon was approximately 14 hours old after conjunction, with an elongation of about 7.5°. Despite its extremely thin appearance, the crescent was successfully recorded using image stacking techniques, combining 20 individual frames to improve visibility and contrast against the bright twilight sky.
Also visible on the left side of the image is the silhouette of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, providing a recognizable landmark and a sense of scale for the observation.
This observation was made from Dubai, UAE, during the first evening visibility of the Muharram crescent.
