Green Gentian
On 05/17/2026 01:57 pm by Judy Boyle | Website | Whitehall, Montana USA
This is one flower found in Montana that I find fascinating. It is called by a variety of names such as Monument Plant or Green Gentian. It lives between 20-60 years in a rosette state increasing its leaves as it gets older. However, it does not bloom until the last year of its life, and the flowering stalk can reach from 2-5 feet tall. Then, it is just a dried stalk, but its seeds live on. I love its delicate flowers, and blue and green colors. Such a sweet plant!
