Starlings, sparrows, woodpeckers, and squirrels coexisted quite peacefully at the feeder, while those for whom the feeder was ill-suited—whether for their beaks or their teeth (pigeons, house finches, cardinals, and chipmunks)—as well as those capable of foraging for themselves but who simply couldn't find a spot at the moment, busily scavenged the fallen scraps. A mother sparrow was even feeding her fledgling there!
