Under a moonless sky in Mohalla, Jammu & Kashmir, the Milky Way stretched vividly across the mountains, its dense star clouds and dark dust lanes clearly visible to the naked eye. I was waiting for Comet C/2025 R3 PANSTARRS to rise, but with time in hand and the sky in perfect condition, I decided to attempt something simple.

With no elaborate setup, I placed my phone against a roadside rock and used Astrocam apk to capture a series of exposures. Below, the valley lights flickered softly, while the quiet presence of the landscape added depth to the scene.

This image is the result of 80 exposures of 20 seconds each (26 minutes total) at ISO 1600, taken without any calibration frames. Despite the limitations of a mobile sensor, the structure of the Milky Wayโ€™s core region emergesโ€”reminding us that even with minimal tools, patience and curiosity can reveal the universe in remarkable detail.
