Cirrocumulus Clouds and Dawn 🌅☁️.
On 04/23/2026 06:26 am by Bhimeswara Rao Malisetti | Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
This dawn sky shows cirrocumulus clouds — high-altitude clouds typically forming at 6–12 km (20,000–40,000 ft). Made of ice crystals and tiny droplets, they appear as rippled patches often called a mackerel sky.
Their pattern forms when moist upper air is shaped by gravity waves and wind shear. At sunrise, the low Sun’s longer light path enhances warm pink and orange tones, while the higher sky remains blue, creating this beautiful natural contrast 🌅.
