Young crescent Moon over Dubai, UAE

A young crescent Moon marking the beginning of Dhu al-Qa’dah, captured from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The thin arc represents the sunlit edge of the Moon, while the faint glow across the disk is Earthshin sunlight reflected from Earth back onto the Moon’s night side.

At the time of observation, the Moon was about 25 hours old, with an altitude of ~14° and a lag time of over one hour after sunset, making it clearly visible despite its delicate phase.
