Observing Comet PANSTARRS
On 04/12/2026 04:40 am by John Ashley | Website | Amado, Arizona, USA
Comet PANSTARRS rises into Sunday morning's pre-dawn sky beyond the Smithsonian's Whipple Observatory on Mt. Hopkins, in southern Arizona. The comet is barely visible to the eye but an easy target with binoculars, and getting brighter each morning.
In the time lapse video you can see the observatory spin, and you can also tell when the quarter moon rises as it colors the atmosphere blue.
