American white pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) stop to rest and feed on Celery Bog in West Lafayette, Indiana on their way to North, to their breeding places. In the breeding season both sexes grow a laterally flattened keratinous "horn" on the upper bill. The "horn" is shed after mating and laying eggs.
