Vernal Pinkgill Mushroom
On 03/22/2026 02:05 pm by Cecille Kennedy | South Depoe Bay Creek Nature Trail, Oregon
Found this mushroom with a pointy parasol cap on the moss covered ground under the Sitka spruce trees. There were 4 of them about 4.5 inches (11.4 centimeters) tall. I thought they are attractive and took a photo of one of them. Looking online it is most likely Entoloma vernum (common name vernal pinkgill mushroom) and it is said that they're not considered edible and are rarely seen here in the Pacific Northwest.
