This photograph was taken in the early morning hours of March 3rd from about 1:00am-5:00am. I snowshoed into a campground that was still covered in about three feet of snow down to the edge of Huntington Lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. After composing and checking the exposure I let the camera run for the next four hours taking continuous shots for four hours every 25 seconds. You wouldn't normally see star trails in a time-lapse involving the bright full moon, but in this photo the majority of the star trails captured nearest the moon were taken during the eclipsed period allowing them to come through to the camera sensor and then show up during the stacking process in post.
Nikon ZII, 20mm Nikon Z lens, F 8.0, 25 sec exposures. 400 shots
Files adjusted for contrast, stacked in Photoshop in blend lighten mode. Flattened to one file, adjusted for color.
