Two Northern Flickers—a yellow-shafted and a red-shafted— engage in a spring ritual, a fencing duel, often called a wicka dance. The choreography involves swaying and drawing patterns in the air with their beaks, combined with head-bobbing and loud calls. Who will prevail? My money's on yellow for sheer theatrics!
