Elk At The Forest Edge

A small herd of Roosevelt elk at the forest edge caught my eye as I was leaving the trail. They were at a distance and there were more of them, adult and juvenile, than included in the photo. The third elk on the left seemingly looking at the camera is a juvenile. The herd exhibit protective behavior toward the juveniles.
