The first clear night in months was Super Bowl Sunday. Temperatures were well below zero (Fahrenheit). A few of us braved the cold and headed out to our club’s (Buffalo Astronomical Association) observatory (Beaver Meadow Observatory). We captured this image of The Horsehead and Flame Nebula (B33, IC434, NGC2024). The bright star Alnitak (the leftmost star of Orion’s Belt is the bright star above the Flame Nebula. Multiple reflection nebulae are also in frame.
Captured at our Astronomy club’s observatory:
Telescope: Tele Vue NP101is
Camera: ZWO ASI2600MC Pro
Mount: ZWO AM5n
Other: ZWO ASIair, ZWO EAF, Sky Shed Pod
All pre and post processing done in PixInsight. 36 exposures at 180 sec each for a total integration of 1 hour 48 minutes.
