The active region AR4366 first emerged from the northeastern limb on January 30, 2026 and had since grown rapidly into a large and complex sunspot group containing more than 20 sunspots. It had also produced six X-class and dozens other M-class anc C-class solar flares throughout its journey across the surface of the Sun, including an X8.1 flare which is the strongest flare of the year 2026 so far, and the third strongest of the current solar cycle 25.
