3I/Atlas Jets
On 12/27/2025 by John Grage | Website | Sebastian, Florida USA
On 2026/12/27 MEO imaged Comet 3I/Atlas. Appling the Larson-Sekanina Gradient filter from that dataset with an angular rotation of 10 degrees and a radial shift of 0.0, I observe three jets and the tail marked in this image. After Applying different rotation angles the three jets remain in all of them and do not seem to be an artifact of the filter. Data taken with the HST on the same date and applying the same filter seems to produce similar results as reported by a few astronomers. Using the smaller filter angles with MEO's data seems to preserve the structure of the jets. These jets are a very curious feature being approximately 120 degrees apart. There is so much to learn from this object just passing through our solar system.
