Jupiter's raging Great Red Spot
On 01/20/2026 10:00 pm by Brian Martin | Riverside CA USA
To say the seeing was excellent would be an understatement. After a bank of cirrus clouds departed I planned my Jupiter GRS shoot and the view was spectacular. Sadly no moons were visible as Io exited to the left when the shooting began. This is in fact my greatest Jupiter image ever and I was blessed to have the skies for it tonight. Jupiter’s apparition this year is highly dynamic with GRS in view and a red polar spot to the top of it along with some oval storms in the south. I have not seen any ovals on the north worth to note. Jupiter at this time of shooting was practically straight up. Really amazing fun
