Zoom in to observe a distinct black dot near the lower center of the Sun.
Gratitude goes to the Sun itself, my Sony camera, the evening light, and of course, Mother Nature.
About Sunspots
- Sunspots are dark, planet-sized patches that appear on the Sun’s visible surface, known as the photosphere.
- They form due to disturbances in the Sun’s magnetic field rising up to the surface.
- These regions of intense magnetism often give rise to solar activity such as flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs).
- Because sunspots are closely linked to solar storms, space weather forecasters monitor them carefully to predict potential outbursts that can affect Earth.
