Great egret walking up a large stump of tree trunk. Its breeding plumage (called aigrettes) have started to grow and will grow longer and more lush as breeding season approaches. Both male and female adults become adorned with beautiful plumage for the breeding season which starts late March in the southern Oregon coast.
