Transit of Ganymede over Jupiter
On 01/06/2026 11:25 pm by Guido Santacana | San Juan, Puerto Rico
Yesterday, as I was observing double stars in Orion using my Questar 3-1/2, I saw that Jupiter was gaining some nice elevation over the horizon. After a quick glance I noticed that a transit involving the moon Ganymede was about to happen, and I started setting up my ZWO ASI224MC planetary camera. I completed a 75-minute sequence from 10:10 pm to 11:25 pm under superior atmospheric conditions, and my collage ends with the appearance of the Great Red Spot (visible in the last two shots). During this session I experienced excellent seeing conditions (9 in the 10-point scale by Pickering) together with transparent skies (4 in a 5-point scale).
